Dr Natalie Winter

Deakin University, Australia

Dr Winter is a registered nurse and Senior Research Fellow in the School of Nursing and Midwifery at Deakin University. Her program of research focuses on developing technology-based resources for people living with cancer and their family members. Dr Winter aims to develop inclusive resources for priority groups in Australia, and her current work is in supporting people from lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, asexual+ communities.

Dr Winter has several national and international collaborations including the University of Southern Denmark, advancing technology-based resources in psychosocial cancer care. She contributed to the development of the National Carer Strategy through her published Policy Brief titled ‘Prioritising carers’ health and wellbeing in the healthcare system’, and presented the outcomes of the brief to a Commonwealth Parliamentary Inquiry.

She currently project manages a multisite RCT called ‘iCare: interactive online portal for people living with upper gastrointestinal cancer and their carers’.
